The center of my 2017 iMac is higher than I would like it to be. I have to tilt my head backward to see the center of the screen properly.

Does anyone know if the stand can be removed to lower it to desk top level?

I would also be grateful for any recommendations of an alternate stand.

Feedback and links will be appreciated.

The stand can be removed with the right tools however there's no alternative stands since the iMac wasn't meant to have a removable stand. Your only options are lower the desk, raise your chair, or get an external monitor as the main display and connect the iMac to that.

If you want height adjust on an iMac you'd have to go for the VESA model to attach it to a monitor arm. https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac/imac-vesa

Unfortunately the iMac Pro was the only iMac with a removable stand that could have a VESA adapter slotted instead.

This is why the Mac Mini and Studio are the best since they're a lot more flexible than all in ones.

Get a higher chair?
Got one being delivered on Monday. I just bought a standing desk. It has a second level to accommodate a couple of small drawers. Had I just gotten a desk without drawers, I'd be a happy camper.

I've often wondered if all the Mac designers were all the same size. I've never so many badly sized, uninclusive, stands in my life.

Anyway, I just raised my chair, but I would love a real fix.
