The Great White North Eh
Well after all of the waiting, it is finally here:D
My 17" SR 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo 2Gb Ram, 250 Ggb hd high Resolution display baby is here..
I am as excited as a little schoolgirl(? can a 27 year old guy actually admit to that?)
I took pics comparing it to my ibook (12") and newly acquired (last week) powerbook (15" it was my bros the HD crashed and he gave it to me to rob the ram out of [he figure the logic board was gone to] and I got it working using external disk to boot)
As soon as I can get them onto some hosting place I'll try to post but wow...
I haven't even turned it on yet and I am in awe.
It is a thing of beauty.

Now one question, to migrate settings or not? I've heard that there are issues arising out of migration from ppc to intel....
Advice?
Maybe I'll just load it up from scratch and manually sync my data? what to do.... any advice on image hosts?

Also, how do I know if I have the new adapter? mine is a wee bit bigger than my ibooks but looks the same (square)
And the box was sooooo thin!!!!!

congrats on the new purchase..open her up and turn her on..dont be afraid to use her. haha. i, myself, have a 17"MBP and am in love with it.

I don't do the migration, I like to start off fresh. :)

You probably have the new smaller adapter if its anything like your iBook adapter. If its square, then you have the new one--the old one were rectangles. There's a pic around here somewhere....
 
I would just transfer the files from the PC onto an external HD, and then transfer the stuff you need and leave the rest of the stuff on there.

Congrats!! I am following in your footsteps tomorrow, same computer, also replacing a 12'' ibook! Can't wait to join you. :)

Oh and for what its worth, I did have issues migrating my ppc to intel (mini to iMac) ... I'm not going to migrate my ibook to mbp tomorrow.
 
I would skip the migration, and just transfer any files you may need. Target disk mode is a great way to do this. I recently did a migration, and it was a bit screwy, so I just reinstalled everything and transfered the files I needed, and it went a lot smoother.
