Hi, guys,
I've been checking out this forum for a while. I'm happy to say that I've just ordered my very first mac yesterday. It's a 24" 2.8GHz Aluminium iMac with wireless keyboard + mouse. I'm just sooo excited right now! My iPhone is not alone anymore!
After 4 days of waiting, which was not long but still hard to get through, my iMac is finally here. Here's a brief review on first night of use:
First impression, it's huge huge huge. My 20" monitor looks like a baby next to it. 24" iMac is just breathtaking. The new aluminium keyboard feels great. It's so thin and looks so good. And they typing is more comfortable that I thought.
Setting the iMac up was insanely easy because there's almost no setup needed. I plugged in the power cord, turned it on, typed in some information, and that was it! It was able to detect my wireless network instantly. I found myself enjoying the iMac right away 5 minutes after opening the box!
The 24" display is gorgeous. So bright and colorful. Well, I don't know much about calibration kinda stuff. However, to me, the display is just awesome. Huge and pretty. However, I did find it a bit too bright even I have already adjusted it to the darkest.
This is my very very first Mac but I've already managed to use Mac OS pretty well. At least I am able to do what I need to.
Loving those little features, Expose, Dashboard, and Spaces. They make the usage a lot easier.
Before the iMac arrived, I was not sure if I needed to use both iMac and my PC. But now, I am pretty sure that I don't need a PC. Just need to migrate my iTunes library and all the movies to my new iMac.
Loving OS X! I know there're lots more to be discovered and I am looking forward to it!
For anyone who can't decide to get a 20" or 24" model, if you have the extra money and space on your desk, definitely go and get a 24". You won't regret it!
I do have a couple questions and hope you guys can help me out:
- Could you guys also suggest any fun/useful widgets to me? That would be great!
- Is there anyway to import .avi files into iTunes movie/TV shows library? I would like to use FrontRow to enjoy my movies.
- Any suggestion for a good external HD enclosure? Don't need a NAS but want a multibay one.
Thank you all!
iMac, woho!!
