I just finished working on a new layout for my business website. I'm curious to see what some of you guys think. I haven't decided 100% on the inner pages yet.

Anyways

http://www.chicowebdesign.com/development/cwd/layout3.jpg - Front Page - The header image will be a flash bit that will rotate images.

http://www.chicowebdesign.com/development/cwd/layout-three-innerb.jpg - Inner layout, I used my portfolio section as it will be the most challenging

http://www.chicowebdesign.com/development/cwd/layout-three-innerc.jpg - Another Inner as I'm not sure how I will list portfolio items.

Anywho, suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I think it's good. A lot better than some of the other design firm sites I've seen!

I prefer the second inner layout, personally. :)

The one thing I'm not sure about is the wood pattern. I do like how it's a darker part in the background, but the wood texture of it doesn't seem to go with the smooth finish of the other elements.

I like it. Very classy. :)
I'd prefer to see it at the resolution you're planning for it, though. Surely you're not going to make it at that size?

Also, the "Portfolio" section's font looks out of place, imo. That's just my opinion, though.

to be honest, while it does look good and professional, etc...

.... it also looks like every other 3-column "web 2.0" site i have ever seen. there is nothing unique about it whatsoever.

beyond that i have nitpicks about your typography; on 'the design studio' page the line length is too wide for that size and leading in the body text. same with the inner pages, specifically the leading on the "client, site details, URL" textblock. there are also hierarchy issues; why is it that on the right side you have your portfolio links the same type style as the "read more" underneath your projects?

again, it does look good, but it should not look good, it should look exceptional and memorable, right?

I kind of like the first layout personally. Looks very modern and professional.

My only critique is that perahps the menu bar is a little large, or rather high. The text looks a little bit lost in it.

Other then that, I think it is nicely done. Good job.

Very nice. The only bits I'm concerned about are the typefaces for the body copy. The serif looks a bit of a weird Arial/Helvetica spinoff and I'm not sure the italics work all that well.

Mind if I make a few points about what you have typed?

1. . . . and its the most effective form to display information regarding your business.

Think it would flow better if you said:

. . . and is the most effective way/format to display . . .

if you wanted to say 'its', at least make it 'it's'

2. Chicoweb Design focuses our designs

I read that a few times because it didn't seem to flow and I wondered if I had misread something. I think it's because Design is singular and our is plural. How about At CW Design we focus our designs . . . (human touch).

3. All of the web sites listed, have been designed . . .

I'd take out the of and the comma and put

All the web sites listed have been designed . . .

You can do the same for me in a few weeks! I'll be beginning my first website soon.
