My new Imac is here- NEED advice despirate

I have recently been looking at a few threads about the ram in the imacs saying that you should upgrade to 4gigs. Mine has 2 in it
I need to know for everyday tasks and using ilife and office for mac( any extra thoughts on office for mac) is it neccessary to upgrade the ram.

Secondly is the sleep made very energy efficient or does it still consume alot of electricity, When sleeping are the fans and prossesors powered down.

Thirdly has any1 got the wireless mouse and keyboard are they good and does the mighty mouse 360 ball clog up after alot of use.

Lastly any other expert thoughts of my spec choise
or advice

2GB should be fine, macs are a lot more ram efficient than vista! I have 1GB and that is quite smooth, especially as i have integrated graphics. I'm Gonna get 2GB for using logic though.

Yeah, the sleep mode powers down the fans and processors, it writes the contents of the ram to the hard drive. So i would guess it is efficient.

You'll need to clean the scroll ball regularly... search google for ways to do this. I find the standard keyboard and mouse to be ok though. Battery life is good on the wireless keyboard however - i suppose it comes down to what you prefer.

Advice? Not much really most things you need will just be there, download flip4mac to watch wmvs... maybe VLC for watching videos.

You seem to be making out that you can only upgrade the RAM when you order your Mac. It is possible, and most advisible to purchase and 'install' it yourself, the process is nothing more than putting a couple of cards in a slot. It's a lot cheaper to buy third party RAM from Crucial, Kingston etc than get it from Apple.

As for reccomendations, I'm not sure, as I'm also waiting for Christmas for my iMac!

I was going to answer, "generally true but not at the moment" and went to crucial.com to prove my point, but ... $44 for 4GB! What happened to RAM prices recently? It was $140 just a few weeks ago.
