I went through 4 of the previous iMacs, all with different problems, and finally decided to just wait for the refresh. I just got my new i7 replacement in the mail today, and its perfect!!!! I am so stoked right now. The screen looks gorgeous, no yellow to my eyes anyway, and its sooo quiet. There is no dog whistle noise when adjusting the brightness, and normal operational noise is non existent. Not to mention, this thing is so fast. My recommendation for anyone that was scared off by the quality of the previous iMac is to buy this thing, its seriously sweet.

What kind of hard drive do you have?

I just purchased a refresh 27 i5. Mine is perfect too. My only complaint is the hard drive is very loud and it seems like it is always being accessed. Mine is a seagate.

I was surprised to find that mine was a western digital. No noise or anything.

My best friend recently ordered the entry-level one from the previous generation, but as soon I saw that the new ones came out, I sent him the link, so he cancelled his previous order and placed a new order for the i3 one with 21.5".

This is gonna be his first Mac but I can see it already that he will be so annoying. "Need an iPhone, I need an iPhone! I need everything Apple!" - I think he lost his senses. He wants an iPad, he wants an iPhone and he seriously got upset when he realised that the new one in his home country did not include the Magic Mouse. He's 36...

Anyway, he was lucky with this upgrade. Even the last iMac was a fairly decent package (apart from minor issues and the obvious 27" yellow tinting) but I can really imagine that the new ones are almost perfect. Shame about the glossy screen, though.

Mine is a Seagate too, but it is really quite. In the late 09 iMacs it seemed like the HD was much noisier than it is with my current one, which is weird, because I think the last iMac was also a Seagate.
