My new MacPro rocks! (No, it really rocks)

I bought my first Mac, and chose the MacPro because:
1. I thought the mini was cool, but I decided I would wind up hanging external drives all over it.
2. I didn't want a laptop.
3. I didn't want to buy one with a dedicated monitor, since I have spare LCD's already.
4. The MacPro was the only other option, and it had room to grow, and I could afford it so what the hey?

It arrived today. Took it out of the box and set it up on my desk. And it wobbles like an old wooden chair. I haven't even turned the thing on yet, and I am bummed out about something. A big heavy steel case like that and it wobbles. I don't want to ship it back and wait so I guess I'll put it on some ribber pads.

Oh well, it is a refurb, so I saved $300 from the regular price. Probably why someone else returned it.

if you really want to see if the feet are uneven, you get a spirit level to them. Are you sure its not just the floor thats uneven?

yeah I hate when things I buy don't fit into mass of my home exactly as I'd planned. I had to return my last tv because it was giving me evil looks. And I returned that one toaster oven for reflecting light onto the fridge.

And the less said about that good for nothing soap dish the better.

why so angry? why come on a forum and make fun of someone who's upset that their very expensive purchase is defective? it's very low, leave the guy alone.

i feel bad for you OP, i would want my Apple to be perfect. As ScarletFever said, maybe someone other than apple can fix this..

Because this isn't defective, it's a minor "flaw" and this guy is suggesting some one returned it over that. I highly doubt people are buying high end work stations and returning them because they wobble. This isn't a freaking end table here.

I just think some people need a reality check on what counts as a problem.

Seriously. The last thing a $2000+ purchase should do is wobble. Maybe a sculpture IS supposed to wobble, but a MacPro sure as hell isn't.

That is ridiculous. I wonder how you'd like it if you'd actually bought it. You act like it's too much to ask for a purchase that large that it doesn't come crooked.

I think you're the one that needs a reality check. I put some rubber pads under it and it is fine. I said I wasn't going to return it, so I don't know where you got the idea that I was making a big issue out of this. So I came searching here to see if there were others that had this happen. Not finding anything in the search, I posted a comment and wasted your valuable time by forcing you to read it.

Walk into Home Depot and buy four soft rubber pads and stick them to the stands of the Mac Pro. Problem solved. Congrats on the purchase.

Anyhow, putting on bigger rubber feet or using a rubber/cork pad will reduce the case noise more than standard anyhow.

I didn't ask for anyone to do anything. I didn't call it a problem, that is your word though you put it in quotes. I simply stated what happened and that I was bummed (which I think for $2000+, is not overreacting). But the main reason I wrote anything was that I thought the title would be funny and that others might get a laugh out of it. Instead, it caused you great pain and consternation that someone would waste your bandwidth. That's OK, I used to do stand-up comedy 25 years ago, and there were always some as*h*les.

You decided how small my problem is on your own. You've probably got a picture in your mind about some 1/16 of an inch difference. It's like a quarter of an inch and I used the user guide under the corner until I needed to read it.

My shoes do come untied sometimes. But guess what ? I tied them, so it's my fault if I didn't do a good job of it the first time. I'm thinking of switching to velcro, because it just works.

But in the end, it's all about you and whether you think the post is worthy of your approval. It's a shame you can't just delete stuff you don't like off the Internet and life.

Well, I'm not going to help this discussion one bit here...
In my experience there is one reason for G5 / MacPro machine to have bent 'handles/feet/aluminium things' -- and that's because they were either shipped improperly packaged or received an almighty whallop during transportation.

I would reject any device containing a hard drive and optical drive, that I suspected of being mistreated in shipping.

Remember, if you take a Powerbook into Apple for warranty service with a dead hard drive, and the case is dented indicating the machine had been dropped, regardless of distance, you have a fair chance of Apple disallowing the warranty repair for 'abuse' and you lose out the drive and all or a part of your remaining Applecare. I don't see why the theory shouldn't be applied in reverse.

Lets review,
plugging your macpro in and having it explode = big problem
attempting to turn it on and having nothing happen = big problem
using macpro for 5-6 months and then having HD crash and losing everything = big problem

a macpro that wobbles = priceless...er I mean not a big problem

Well this would have to be a Brand New machine for that to be a far comparison. He bought a refurb (also known as used). So that argument doesn't really make sense.

I'm just saying, the OP is making a mountain out of a mole hill.
