It's been a great 24 hours with my new MBP. This is my first mac and I am loving it. Havent really had any problems at all. The only issues I had was figuring out how to use my verizon wireless xv6700 as a usb modem and trying to get adobe suite installed correctly. Fixed the first issue.

The LED screen is very nice, super bright. Best display I have seen on a laptop. The Mac OS is lovely.

The build of the laptop is top notch as well, it is so much slimmer than my Dell inspiron 6000 lol.

I am still getting used to everything, but so far I am extremely happy with my purchase.

So far I have installed Firefox, Win XP, and Parallels.

This forum has been great at answering all the questions I have had so far, thank you guys!

congrats... I have a MBP and MB. I love the LED screen on my pro but I use my MB mostly because of its smaller size. 2.6 has to be a screaming machine!!! Max out the ram and enjoy!!:D

Mine just got prepared to ship!

How is the heat with yours???

I ordered a cooler plate...

I nearly got a 2.6, but I just didn't feel like spending an extra $300 - I ordered the upgraded HDD though. :)

You know it doesnt really get hot at all, I read so much about these thing heating up, but so far it really hasnt. I was running parallel all day long with win xp, my xv6700 tethered as a modem in xp, using yahoo and msn messenger, 2 web page opened in windows, 4 web pages opened in mac os, i was moving files and installing different things all day long. Everytime I looked at the fan speed it was right below 2000 and very quiet. The only time I saw it go up to 6000 was the first time parallels booted up win xp, after that it did not go that high at all and stayed at below 2000.

Really, WTF? You want 10 second faster encode if the process is already taking 30 minues? For 300$ extra? :/ >.>

yeah, but people's desire to have the best/fastest/newest/largest will burn a hole in them so that they feel they *need* it... I'm sorry to say that I, too, have been guilty of this.
It doesn't help when we live in such an advanced consumer society.:(

I have also been using mine for a about 24 hours, and must say: it is HOT. While using spaces, playing warcraft and surfing the net, I constantly reach 160-170 degrees F.

However, with 4 gigs of ram, I can run WoW at full spec, itunes in on space, firefox in one space, and WoW in the other with NO slowdown what-so-ever. Amazing

Could you please comment on the fans behavior?
How fast they tend to spin, do they kick in all the time or only when you are pushing the machine, etc.

Oh god yes they do - they kick in rather loud and spin up to around 5000-7000 rpms. When you tax the machine, they spin up - but it sounds pretty cool, I must say ;)

All sounds good! Waiting for mine still, so a bit jealous!

One quick question - is the hard drive a 7k200 from Hitachi? Hope so, as Barefeats says that drive just roars...

Crossing fingers....
