OK this is a pointless thread but My new 24" imac refurb has just arrived at my desk at work and i truly don't think i will be able to get anything else done today. I just keep looking at this big box next to me and cannot wait to get it home and install my ram and hook it up.

OK back to you regularly scheduled post.

BTW why the hell is everything B&W today?

April Fools Day bro....

You can change it back if you like. Look down towards the bottom left of the screen -- "Quick Style Chooser" :D

Nice! :)

The black and white must be an April fools thing.

I have heard that a number of the refurbs come with additional components like extra RAM or a bigger hard drive. Is it such a large percentage that I should hold off on purchasing RAM until it gets here?

Enjoy it! I got the very same one about two weeks ago and it's a real dream machine. I had been running a mini that I gave to my daughter. Yes, today at work will probably be pretty much worthless for you.

It's literally the luck of the draw. I recently ordered a refurb 20" (white C2D) iMac and my "bonus" was that it came with 256MB VRAM instead of the standard 128MB. Meanwhile, my brother's refurb MacBook came with 2GB of RAM installed instead of the standard 1GB. So there is no way to really know until it arrives.

Likewise, I ordered a refurb Macbook and got no free upgrades or anything.

I got rather lucky. bought a Mac mini for $479 from the refrub store, was about to call apple to return it but i read this thread and figured i should see if i have any "free upgrades" and low and be hold it came with 2 gb of ram. so now i am gonna keep it!

Sweet! I am going to hold off on purchasing RAM just in case. I think I can survive for a few days on 1 Gig until it gets to me if I didn't win the Applottery.

Yes, our church bought a 1.5 CS Mini refurb when they were out and for $519 (at the time), we got a 1Gig RAM/80Gig HD instead of the 512Meg/60Gig - sweeeet..... needed the extra space for audio recordings and to use the CD Duplication software under Rosetta.

I love Apple!

my only worry about the machine still is that its only a 1.83 CD i would have liked a 2.0 C2D but i didnt want to pay the extra $200 and i have been told the speed difference isnt that noticeable for the price

Well i set up the mac last night and it was so intuitive it was amazing.

Printer: Just had to click the printer button and it found the drivers for me and was ready to go

Transfering Itunes and pics: All i needed to do was set up file sharing on my PC and the mac was ready to go i didn't even need to enter an ip address or anything.

Oh yeah and BTW They sent me 500gb HD instead of the 320 i ordered.

Congratulations on the iMac and the free HDD upgrade!

I was waiting for the updates to the iMac to come before buying but i'm so sick of waiting. I'm planning to order a 2.8GHz 24" Refurb next tuesday (if they don't update them or run out of refurb stock!).

Unfortunatly my credit ard is maxed out at the moment so I have to wait that extra week until I can pay it off :(

Hope i'm lucky enough to get a HDD upgrade like you :D

Congrats on the purchase and it was B/W yesterday to celebrate Apple's 32nd anniversary.

not to go on a tangent but its not the ones maxing out their CC's its the homeowners who get a house that they never afford so they end up forclosing on it when the economy dips

You sir are an idiot!! My credit limit is £2000 which i spent in one month (car insurance etc ....not that i should explain myself to you!!). When the bill comes I'm, paying it off in full!

I've got more savings in the bank, enough to buy a top of the range Mac Pro (with a 30" ACD & USB modem!!). I don't use debit cards on the internet though because if my details get stolen, i'm screwed fighting for months if not years to get all my money back.

So next time think before you post!
