Hello Everyone,

Today, finally, my 12.9 2018 iPad Pro 256 GB Wifi arrived! After using my 2015 12.9 128 GB 3g + Wifi iPad Pro for about 4 years ( bought new in 2016 ) , the time had come to upgrade it. I was drooling over the 2018 iPad Pros since they were first released but my iPad was going strong so I did not want to upgrade. Then 2020 update arrived, I was waiting for the Mini Led displays, and it did not come with the update, and since the processor update was not that significant, other than that lovely 2 Gb ram upgrade, there was nothing that interested me more on the 2020 model.

The economical situation not really permitting me to buy a new one, I decided to look at the 2018 iPad Pros, but still the prices were above my budget. After looking at the ads for weeks, I found a lovely 2018 12.9 iPad Pro, 256 gb wifi with Apple Smart Folio Keyboard for 650 euros. It looked like a fantastic deal and for the first time in my life I bought a used device. New, it would have costed around 1450 euros, and people usually list them for around 850-900 euros price range, so I think that I've made a very good deal!

The iPad was bought in July 2019 and is in a perfect shape. I immediatly bought an Apple Pencil 2 as well and I-Blason cover for the Smart Keyboard cover (sounds funny I know) and a matte screen protector! Well, even tho I had put on PERFECTLY the matte screen protector on my 1st gen, in this one, I messed it up a bit and I have some bubbles :( I have one more screen protector to try but well, now I decided to keep it like this for a few days to install all and play a bit with it.

I love the form factor, I love the promotion display, I love how my Apple Pencil (FINALLY) can be charged wirelessly/seamlessly while not in use and I love the usb-c support. Even with the cover, it is smaller than my old iPad Pro.

I have always hated the Apple Smart Keyboard Folio, that's why I never bought it for my old one, but I will be honest, now after trying it for a few minutes, I start to enjoy using it and the typing experience is definitely better than my Logitech Keys 2 Go that I was using on my old iPad. Now it is tranferring data from my old iPad, it says that it will take around 2 hours , well, I belleive since i was using around 90 GB of space, I dont even know if it copies all of it or not.

To try it out, I installed Procreate and Sketchbook bro and made a quick doodle, and I should be honest, I did not really feel any difference on pen input speed with the higher refresh rate display. So anyone who wonders about buying the pro against the Air 4 just for the more "responsive" Apple Pencil, do not bother, at least in my case, there is not a visible gain, but I should still try it more. Both Apple Pencil 1 and Apple Pencil 2 is already very smooth and responsive.

I do not regret at all, for me, performance wise, especially on Luma Fusion or Affinity Photo, it will be an impressive jump and usability will be SO MUCH improved with the usb-c, seamless apple pencil charging. I will keep you updated about my experience, and sorry for this useless "my iPad Pro arrived" post, but well, I wanted to share my enthousiasm with you. :)

Arghhh.. I still have to retry installing the screen protector tho.. Those bubbles are irritating me!

You can try pushing the bubbles out of the screen protector with a credit card. Just press down on it next to the bubble and push it towards the edge.

Yes I tried that, with the squeeze card that was supported, but some of them remained there, I guess that it should be dust, even though i had applied it in the bathroom after creating some steam. :-/

That sounds really annoying. It happened to me once before.
It is very annoying, because other than that it is perfect. And I know that when I remove it and redo it, it may be worse lol.

Nice deal! Enjoy your new iPad. ?

Thank you very much! I am so happy and I am loving this iPad, such a nice value amazing device! And also I really advice the i-Blason cover for Smart keyboard for anyone who is using Smart Folio Keyboard and needs extra protection, it makes me feel safer! :)

Oh and also the pen which is constantly and seamlessly on charge is AMAZING as It was happening often for me that when I wanted to sketch, I would realise that my Apple Pencil ran out of battery. Such a nice “luxury” to have the pen always charged. :=)

This is really one of the best things I have experienced with my 11” Pro...this Pencil charging. It’s really amazing when compared to the ridiculous method of charging the previous version of the Pencil!

And, your post is NOT useless! It’s a legit expression of enthusiasm and I, for one, appreciate it!

Enjoy!

Thank you very much for your kind words Kristalsoldier. I am really loving it! :)

Agreed! The old method was ridiculous and I would always find out that my pencil was out of battery each time I wanted to use it. So, this alone is an amazing upgrade/change for me. :)

Here's a drawing that I did with my new iPad to try it out! :) I used the Sketchbook Pro in the beginning then passed to Procreate lol. Well It is the first time that I am drawing a watch and I don't have an huge knowledge about watches. Wanted to make a reinterpretation of a Rolex GMT Master 2 Pepsi which I love a lot (I mean the original one) and well, I ended up with a Rolex which does not really look like a Rolex lol. But well, it was fun!
