My newly installed SSD and old HD being recognised as one single 1.5TB drive??

I bought the 2012 mac mini with 1TB hard drive to install a second SSD myself.

I did that today and when i went to install ML on it, it got an error which I either had to "fix" or ignore and go back. Now my mini recognises my SSD and my HDD as one drive with a max capacity of 1.5TB...what is going on? I wanted to install the OS on the SSD and then have the rest of my files on the HDD..has this happened to anyone else?

Would really appreciate some help!
 
It created a fusion drive for you. This will store the most used files and OSX on the SSD and files that you don't use so often will end up on the hard disk. If you have less than 500 gbytes of stuff it will all be stored on the SSD. I would leave it alone and give it time to balance everything out. I plan to get an SSD and do what you just did but I don't have the money for one now.

I get "Fusion" automatically? Wow never knew this
 
Someone needs to do a fresh and clean install on their 2012 Mac mini, clone it (without updates, password etc..) and distribute that clone. I wonder if it would work on a 2011. :)
