So, I upgraded from first gen AirPods a few weeks ago. Overall, they are definitely an improvement except in one very specific area for me personally. Maybe it’s an issue with a setting that I’m just missing but I really don’t think so.

So I use my AirPods a lot in the car for phone calls. I find it easier to hear people with them in and while using noise cancellation mode.

What I’m noticing is now with the AirPods Pro 2, which I never noticed on the gen 1, is that when you use ANC during a phone call, I can hear the ANC sort of turn down as the call starts. Meaning I can now hear a lot more ambient noise being piped in. I’m no longer getting the full ANC during phone calls. Weirdly specific I know but I really notice it and I don’t like it!

Has anybody else noticed this?? Am I missing something? Is there a way to fix this or is this just a “feature” of the new ones?

I believe that the default setting is for transparency mode to be on while using only one AirPod. So assuming that’s what you’re doing in the car, you’ll want to go into accessibility settings for your APP2 and turn on “noise cancellation with one AirPod.”

I’m using both AirPods though.

Nobody else notices this? Wow.

Well, as Tay-Tay says, "It's me, Hi, I'm the problem, it's me!"
