My opinion of MacBooks have changed.....

First let me say I am a macaholic......I been usig them for over 20 years, i have had all sizes and of powerbooks and 4 macbooks to date, I always thouht the macbook was right for me, but i was so wrong as the MBP is the one i need for just everday stuff, my Powerbooks always ran super hot and never had enough batt life....but this new MBP put my macbooks to shame and love the keyboard.....so happy i came over to the dark side :) Thanks guys :)

This is an interesting opinion, and I really want to like the MBP. But, yesterday I went to the Apple store at Woodfield to look at the MBPs, and see whether I'm crazy, or not. I maintain that the MBP, in both sizes, is too big to carry everyday.

It's not too heavy, or too fat. The thing is thin as hell. But, it is very deep and wide. My current machine is a 12 incher, and I really can't stomach the thought of going any larger.

I'm holding out hope for a 12 or 13 inch MBP. Until then, I'll be using my current machine.

apparently you've never seen another mfgs 15.4" widescreen laptop when i first got this thing compared to my compaq, i couldnt believe how light and small it was

wow i dont even feel a big increase from my Macbook carrying it, smaller is good but would have to buy two...one for each eye :)

I'm not comparing it to other manufacturer's 15 inch laptops. If you paid attention to my entire post, you'd see that smaller computers interest me, and I use a 12 inch notebook.

I'm well aware of the size of most 15 inch machines. They are big. The Macbook Pro is smaller, but to me, it's still too big. Smaller than most 15 inch machines, doesn't make it small compared to every machine. My laptop is much smaller.
 
Two major things i dont like about the MBs are the washed out screen which no amount of calibration seems to solve and the palm rest. Its edges are pretty sharp.....at least for the core duo models i attempted to own

I also wish they'd up the resolution to 1366x768 or something. They're good laptops but i wouldn't want one as a main workhorse....that GMA. MBP ftw. Might be beefing up mine soon to include 3GB RAM and 200GB HDD in time for leopard
 
I have a MacBook Pro, but lots of my friends have MacBooks which I have tried briefly, and I actually prefer the keyboard feel of the MacBook.

As long as you don't do any graphics related work (such as me) I find the MacBooks to be really good. :) Though, I still don't understand what people mean by the sharp edges of the MacBook palm rest. Do they have their arms hanging over the side? Haha. I have been using my MacBook for near a year now, and I don't find there to be any sharpness to it.

More on subject, while I would one day like to get a MacBook Pro, I find that my MacBook is just fine, and I love the keyboard and small form factor.
