My original Mac Pro Value

I have the Original Mac Pro when it came out in 2006. 2.6ghz . 2 dual core CPU. 6GB RAM. 1GB video card and 1TB hard drive.

My question is: What do you think current resell value of this is used now on the market? I saw on Ebay someone selling similar one recently for about $1500.

Oh ok. My machine has 1TB hard drive and upgraded to 6GB RAM and 1GB ATI HD 5770 card. Maybe $1100?

I had a similar system (2006 Mac Pro, 2.66 GHz CPU, 1 TB HDD, 8800GT graphics, 12 GB RAM) that I am in the process of selling to a company called Sellyourmac.com. I found out about them at their Macworld Expo booth a couple of weeks ago. Using their online form, I was originally quoted a price of $980 but that was bumped to $1020 when I informed them that the video card was upgraded from the 7300GT to the 8800GT. They are also paying to have my Mac shipped to their place of business.

I checked what the 2006 Mac Pros were selling for on eBay and, for the most part, they were selling in the $900-1200 range so I was pretty pleased with what Sellyourmac.com offered me.

Geekbench scores a 2006 Mac Pro 2.66 ghz at 5142 average.
i7 iMac scores are 8312 - 9084
i5 iMac scores are 6704 - 6967
i3 iMac scores are 5721 - 5948


CPU scores alone show up to 15% performance increase for the i3 or a 35% one for i5.
The i7 iMac scores a 76% maximum increase in CPU grunt making them expensive but fantastic upgrades.

A $70 CPU upgrade to 3GHz lifted my score to 6227.

You can improve on the average scores with more RAM and optimum conditions, the fastest i7 iMac to date is 10800 with 16 GB RAM : http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/352535

At $70 that speed boost is a bargain, nice one.

To my surprise after I bumped the memory 4->8GB with "for Apple Mac Pro" approved Kingston memory (originals are Hynix), the score went down by ca. 100 mainly on memory throughput.
