Very effective indeed in Safari / Omniweb - I've seen this kinda idea done before, but not this convincingly. Well done!

One issue, though, is that it doesn't appear to work too well in firefox - a spurious scroll bar appears in the middle of the 'desktop' (or at least, it did for me!).

Despite the FF gotcha, it's a very clever piece of work =]

Wow. That is really cool.

I was actually expecting something worse, but i think you did a great job. Do You still run OS 9, or have you found images some where to do this? I didn't think there were many people that still used OS, except for those old time designers using Quark 4 [haha].

indeed. the scroll bar appears to be coming from one of the pop ups in particular see screenshots attached.

cool looking website, although i wish i could click the apple in the top left! that's the first place my eyes and cursor went.

Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for pointing out this bug- im not totally sure what the problem is- it just shouldn't be there. I don't know much about coding- its my first proper website done with Dreamweaver.

No, i dont still run OS 9, but i thought a lot of my visitors would relate to it. I copied most of the graphics either from google searches or recreated them in fireworks.

I think I've got the old menu and startup sounds somewhere so maybe ill put them in at some point.

I have tried / am trying to put in some prop-down menus but so far they just dont look quite right.

thanks again for all the feedback.

does anyone know why i have a scroll bar in the middle of my website (on firefox)?

Well orchestrated. Doesn't work on iPhone as far as double-click zooms.

Your site is made using frames, correct? It looks like Firefox renders the frame for the "Edwin" folder a little shorter than other browsers do, causing it to need a scroll bar. You might want to try either shortening your content in the frame or possibly making the frame a bit longer. That's part of why frames suck to use. In time as you get more adept at web development you might want to think about redoing the pages in all CSS and using the drag-objects script in the second link I sent you. That would eliminate your scroll bar problem and you could potentially make everything on the page draggable (icons, folders, windows, etc.). That would be a pretty darned amazing website...

Very cool. Takes me back. I almost want to go fire up the old, old Bondi Blue iMac I've got in the spare room. :D
