Peeved.

my HTC Incredible S's earpiece stopped working, so I was advised to check a sticker on the battery to check for water damage - if the sticker is pink, then it has water damage. Low and behold, the sticker was pink.

.... but my phone hasn't been in ANY WATER AT ALL. It hasn't even been caught in rain or anything, but the phone is apparently saying it's got water damage.

£250 spent in January, 7 months later I can't use it as a phone. Everything else works, just I can't hear other people.

Suppose this gives me an excuse to get an iPhone next month.... but for now, I'm phone-less.

This exact thing happened with my girlfriend's HTC phone...maybe something is going on here...

Where's the sticker? It seems if it is right on the battery just behind the cover that it can catch moisture through anything such as humidity or having it in the bathroom while you shower.

That is pretty crappy though, I have to admit. Any chance to get a cheap phone? Are you thinking you want to move to the iPhone?

So you've never used the phone in the rain or a humid environment?

What about if youve been sweating?

You bought an inferior HTC product... What did you expect?

HTC, inferior to what? Our precious iPhones? There have been similar reports with iPhones as well. As much as I love Apple, my Macs, my iDevices ... I have to admit that I don't feel like all other products are inferior.

The truth is though that the iPhone seems better made. From experience, HTC phones of old just kind of croak after 8 months.

Yeah like this never happened to any other phone makers product.
Where do you people come from.

OP, sorry to hear this, my sons 3gs iPhone had the same thing happen and he too swore it never got wet but we live in a very humid climate and the nice guy at the Apple store replaced it with a refurbished one.

While you are waiting to figure out what to do you can use a bluetooth headset or ear piece to get by.

Good luck.

That has not been my experience at all, second hand and personal but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Believe it or not, if you keep a phone in your back pocket on a hot day, you can get butt sweat on your device through the jeans, I have on occasion removed the phone from my pocket and noticed a damp patch where the non porous material of the phone has not allowed the skin to breath through the jeans.

A** sweat = humidity. LOL It could happen the same way in a front pocket, depends on whether the phone is able to shift around easily.

I bought a htc desire in 2010, used it for a year and a half, then gave it to my mum when I got a Galaxy S2. The phone is over two and a half years old now and works perfectly.

Just need to take care of them :)
