To turn iPhone on

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

To turn iPhone completely off

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. When iPhone is off, incoming calls go straight to voicemail.

To reset iPhone

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Tip: You should rarely need to reset iPhone. If you're experiencing an issue with iPhone, see the following article:

hold down the home button and sleep/wake button at the same time for about 8-10 seconds

Thanks for the tip...

I actually ended up putting the phone in the dock, and iTunes finally recognized it, and it allowed me to do a restore on the phone, and it came back with no problems
