i have a lailbroken 3g iphone.
everything worked great until i tried to install the patch for mobileinstallation.
the software was installed but it was taking a lot time for the phone to return back to cydia page.
i pressed the home button and nothing happened.
so i tried to turn it off by holding power and home button down and when it shut down i turned it on again.
from that time the phone stays in the boot logo screen and thats it.
Have in mind that in the itunes the phone is discoverable but i cannot synchronise it.A message appears that says something that the phone situation cannot allow the phone to synchronise.

if anyone has a solution for restoring the phone please tell me im desperate

thanks

I got this too when jailbreaking! If your computer doesn't recognize the iPhone, which it didn't for me, power off the iPhone by holding the power and home button for 10 seconds or until the logo disappears. Open iTunes and connect the iPhone's USB cord to your computer. Hold the home button while connecting the USB cord. This will force the phone to deactivate and delete all data, temporarily bricking your iPhone. The iTunes logo with the USB cord under it will appear saying connect to iTunes. iTunes will say there has been an iPhone dected in recovery mode click restore blah blah blah. Click restore and a restore will occur leaving your iPhone literally like new (on the inside:p).
