Okay I want a MBP with Memron and I also want my free i Pod Nano. Memron is due who knows when in September. My plans are..... I plan on buying a Mac Mini and turning in my free i Pod Nano sertificate. Then when the newer MBP's come out exchange my unopened Mac Mini and keep my free i Pod. Yeah I thought about this when I woke up from a dead sleep last night around 3:00 a.m. My wife thinks Im crazy. I just want my new MBP with Memron 64 bit. Oh and my free Nano.:)

The mini isn't eligible. And even if you did this with a macbook or MBP, you probably have to send in a proof of purchase, which would be either a paper inside the box or part of the box itself. Don't bother, it's not going to happen.

The Mini isnt elligble,
YOU have till Sept 16th when the Ipod rebate offer ends so thats a month from now. Hopefully they will announce the Switch to Merom the first week of Sept!!!!

Yep...several problems with your plan:

1. The Mac mini is not eligible for the promotion.
2. You have to cut out the UPC on whatever computer you did buy in order to send in the iPod rebate...that'll make it awfully tough to exchange it.

By the way, it's "Merom" and "iPod"...

You could leave the UPC on the first box, exchange it, and send in the rebate info after you have exchanged the first computer with the UPC from the second.

That gets around that problem, but it still won't work.

The computer and the iPod have to be on the same receipt. If you exchange it, you'll get a new receipt for the MacBook Pro with Merom, but it won't have the iPod nano on it. Even if it does have the iPod nano on it, the date would be late.

That's why it won't work (other than the Mac mini issue)

Which still wouldn't work. The upc wouldn't match the receipt (unless you got a new receipt, which as you say would have the wrong date). And they'd know from the UPC what model it was, giving away that it wasn't an eligible machine.

If I understand it right, the return policy is 14 days, period. Restocking fee if it's open, no fee if the box is still sealed.

Just buy a MBP now and be happy with what you have and get the nano (it definitely runs like the wind for me) or take a chance and wait that you might miss out on the nano but you get your merom MBP.

Based on some internet reports I've been seeing, Merom is not much to wait for. The performance gains are relatively minor, and the heat/power requirements are about the same or a bit worse.

Me, I'll stick with my Yonah.

you can get free ipods

There are legit sites out there that you can get free ipods from. I have done a bunch and have actually recieved 5 free ipods. By far the quickest and best site out there I found was http://www.flashipods*****.com/ they are operated by a company called Trainn and have always been promt to ship your item once you get the number of people to sign up)

These sites are pretty easy, you basically sign up and complete and advertisers offer (like blockbuster online, netflix, some book club, etc...) so you spend a few bucks on that and then get a few friends to do the same. They make money from the advertisers and then use that to ship you the iPod.

There are even sites out there that you can get free laptops and computers.
One just released a Mac Pro computer you can get here:

It does take some work and a few dollars but in the end a nice way to get
an iPod.
