Hey this is my first post!
This site looks really interesting and I was very pleased when I saw that you have a design/graphics forum, so as my "introduction", here are some of my works (most of them are signatures, that's the media I'm focused in right now).

This is a needle, not a dagger. Some people miss the concept then

I'm not too into Anime but this is my attempt at some manipping of an Anime character:

Who doesn't love Japan?

I liked the model in this one, some say it is a little creepy. :p

This is all from scratch, all smudging.

Same as above, except for the boat and birds.

Abstract design, mostly brushes and pentool.

Speaking professionally, you need to move onto a bigger canvas. Signatures are a no-no and you will generally be criticized harshly from any respectable design community. You have talent, now apply it to hi-resolution images. You need to work on your interface design too, we don't live in the '90's anymore ;)

The "interface design" that you speak of was created to get a few laughs, not to be a professional template. If I was going for a professional-grade template, I would have made it as such.

And I enjoy doing signatures, I'm not looking to make money from a hobby, but thanks for the insight :)

Nice stuff! I am into the same kind of thing you are. But at the moment I just do art works. I am doing 4 homages real soon. I have done one but when I finish my other three I will post them up. Keep in mind when I do, I am only 16 and just learning how to use photoshop. :p

The interface you designed has nothing to it, it is repetitive and the grid could use some work. If you do any work involving text in the future I would suggest that you look into Adobe's Illustrator program.

Hobby or not, signatures aren't really much of anything.

What is that supposed to mean? I enjoy making art and enjoy sharing it with other people. Who are you to say that means "nothing"? I could find thousands of people on forums I am involved in that would disagree with you. There isn't any reason to bring me down because you feel signatures aren't "really much of anything". If you don't have something nice or constructive to say don't say it at all.

And thanks to other people for your advice and cheers :)

I already said you are talented. ;) If you want any serious critiques from reputable designers, I suggested to move onto a bigger canvas. :D

You have to be careful about incorporating copyrighted images in your work.

haha yeah I know, all of the forums I'm a part of are really strict about ripping/copyright infringement. All of the stocks/brushes/renders/c4ds I use I either have permission to use personally, or have obtained from packs in which the distributer has obtained permission. But thanks for the warning :)

I think his criticism was constructive. He said that for text, you should get into Illustrator. Granted all that he said was not all sugar-coated and fuzzy, but hey, if you post your work online, I think you should be ready to take any kind of critiques.

I know you're probably posting this up just for fun, but whenever the word 'portfolio' is used, a lot of people think 'professional', meaning that you're aiming to gain serious employment off of it.

I don't mean to be harsh, just maybe make it clear if you don't want to be criticized on professional standards.

I wasn't referring to what he said about the text, I was referring to him calling signatures "nothing". That's not critique or criticism, that's just being an ass. But I see your point.

I'd question the website UI too. But personally, if he's designing for the love of it, and not doing it for commercial gain, who cares?

Work is good for the most part, and if it were bigger, more than likely he'd make it look stunning.

What is a signature? You mean the stuff that people add to their forum thread posts?

If so stop wasting your time (as you have talent) and create something worthwhile like posters for events, clubs etc. They may even pay you for something you enjoy doing ;)

Yea... till they tell you to make their logo bigger :p

I would keep creating your art. I just wish I could see bigger examples :(
