So I started looking around for a sleeve to protect my new (yesterday) 13" MBA Ultimate. I carry it in a notebook backpack, (where my 17" Dell M90 lives), but wanted something it could snuggle into. I haven't found anything I truly like yet, so a trip to the office supply cabinet for a bubble-wrap, padded envelope and some gaffer's tape scored this solution:

Not the world's greatest and the pun is almost worn out, but I wanted something that wouldn't take up a lot of room in my pack, but still give some protection. I'll probably have another solution in a week or so. Don't wanat to stick with the bubble-wrap, because it can grind small circles in the finish of the Air if dust gets into the envelope. The thing weighs about 4 oz.

Hah! I love it man - very creative/simple.

I actually don't really like any of the options I've seen so far for sleeves, cases, etc, so I decided I'm going to be making my own =) Just got done finding two fabrics I think will do the job. One is a denim material for the outer layer; it's quite sturdy (think jeans, but a nice grey). The inner material is hard to describe... it's not fur by any means, but it feels a lot like it. It's nearly identical to the Incase zipper sleeves if you've felt that. I'm going to have my buds girlfriend sew it up tomorrow I think :D

At any rate, nicely done. Maybe consider making something more permanent? At the fabric store I went to, they seriously had everything you could possible imagine needing for the production of a sleeve - thick or thin. One thing that got me thinking was the leather upholstery. That'd make a *slick* looking outer layer for a custom case. :)

Absolutely! I have a friend that sews and she could whip me up something very quickly.

I like the SF Cases/Sleeves, but they're way too much dinero. Since I already have a nice notebook backpack (REI Co-op), a simple sleeve will do the trick.

Good luck!
