My rabbit just cost me $129 ...

I have two small rabbits and just found out that one of them chewed through my Macbook's power cord and survived!!!

Went to the Mac store and got a replacement for AU$129 ... ouch.

Picture of the offender below ... he will be severly punished ;)

The worst thing (as you can see) is that he doesnt seem particularly concerned about it.

129 bucks? geeze my second power supply only cost me 59 bucks, whats the exchange rate for ausie money?
 
Ouch, I have 3 power cords lying around from Macbooks sent in for repair and returned with accessories (also got the remotes)...

Which cord did it chew through? The one from the wall is 110 but the one from the box to the computer is only 18.5 volts.

Either way, you may have discovered nature's secret to how big bunnies have all that energy to make little bunnies. :rolleyes:
 
In the rabbits defence, it is very cute.

And when it is no longer it will be delicious.
 
The rabbit's sense of entitlement is astounding. I think you should really deal with this issue asap. Do not hesitate because there could be serious issues later when he grows up.

He chewed through the smaller 18.5v cord, not sure if he was electrocuted though. After the incident he went and lay down for a sleep, so it can't be too bad.

I am trying to .. it seems to be a stage he is going through. A few weeks ago, he broke into my home office and ate all the indoor plants!
 
OMG, can't believe this!

We have replaced our little girl's iBook adapter THREE TIMES (as recently as last week) because of her damned chinchilla's antics. Those little critters are fast, too!

We have plastic tubes on all the other electrical cords in the house, which works fine ... they give up trying to chew through thick PVC.

However, this one jumped up on a chair, then onto a table to chew through the cord. As you probably know they have amazing ability to jump very high from a standing start.
 
Next time he is chewing through a wire pour water on him.

As a proud rabbit owner and Mac user for the last 19 years, I can tell you that your rabbit is not going through a stage; it will always enjoy the unique bunny pleasure of biting through a cord. As you know, their teeth grow continuously and if they don't chew and wear down their teeth, their teeth will grow to the point that they can't eat. You need to buy PVC cord protector, available at any Home Depot. It is quite inexpensive and you buy it by the needed length. You then wrap it around your cord. Bunny teeth can still get through the PVC, so this is just to buy you time. You'll need to be ever-vigilant against the bad combination of bunny + exposed cord since the result is almost always a severed cord and sometimes an injured bunny. You'll learn to hide your protected chords behind furniture, under rugs, etc. Good luck with your computer and your very cute bunny!

P.S. Here is a link to the webpage that my wife insisted I put up of our bunnies. Yours looks just like a miniature version of our Sita.

Feed it Coke and Twinkies like so many parents do for their kids. That will take care of those teeth.
