I'm going to Disney World this summer and I'll be taking my iPad Pro 10.5 for the flight and to use in the hotel, but I don't want to risk taking it to the parks themselves. And it's too big, really.
But my iPhone 8 (regular size) is a bit small for those downtime moments when I might want to browse the internet, or read a Kindle book, or even watch a tv show or movie.
I've always found the iPad mini too large — I want something between the iPhone 8+ and the mini. At the same time, it's an expensive thing to get smashed up while you're riding a rollercoaster.
Step forward the iPad nano! Also known as the Kindle Fire 7.
Now, I know what you're thinking. I should be banned from the forums for life.
BUT three points, if I may.
First it currently costs £34.99. That's right. A 7-inch tablet for £34.99. Insane.
Second, although the quality and features are not an a par with Apple — indeed, it makes you appreciate Apple's design and craftsmanship even more — it's not completely horrible. The screen resolution is about half that of the iPad — and you notice that when you're reading text — but for watching video, it's really very good indeed. Besides, it's only £34.99. How good were you expecting it to be? Frankly, at that price, the screen quality is astonishing. Especially with video.
Third, the processor is almost comically slow and the OS is a train wreck. But for my use-case, I can deal with those limitations. Because (did I mention this already) it's £34.99. If I drop it on a concrete floor and it smashes into a thousand pieces, I don't care! It was £34.99! I'll buy another one. Hell, I'll buy three!
