yes, a few of us were disappointed that the iMacs weren't updated back then with the notebooks...

a thought came across my mind when Apple has only just released the new 24" cinema display a few days ago -- this could mean that they're also revamping the iMac screens with the new LCDs. They are also probably making a 20" variant for the smaller iMacs.

so I think it's got something to do with the LCD, and the next update would bring that screen and a speed/spec bump. a TUAW rumour mentioned the possibility of a quad core iMac, too (introducing new processors as oppose to just using the higher speed processors in cheaper models). Another factor is that the economy is sluggish at the moment, they probably want to finish selling the stocks instead of introducing a new model and sell the current ones at a cheaper price.

This is just what I'm speculating. There's no sources where I got this info; I came up with this hypothesis from reading TUAW and Mac Rumours... so don't take it for granted, so I could be wrong; just wanted to share some thoughts. :)

Business 101

I think it has a lot to do with the phrase, "Keep them wanting more." Also, if they introduce everything at the same time, they have one great financial quarter and three mediocre ones. But if they spread releases out throughout the year, they can keep their cash flow moving.

Do you really think they will be more expensive.

I don't mind paying for quality, rather than using substandard parts pureley to hit a price point.

Btw Im so excited , The LED iMac, Should look Amazing :)

Switch to the desktop variant of the Macbook chipset, quad core desktop CPU, unknown whether they stick with a mobile GPU with MXM or go with PCIe and a underclocked desktop (or mobile) GPU.

'New iMacs are gonna be a lot more expensive'

Especially in the UK if the pound keeps sailing southwards.

Apple and Simple Updates

Apple seems to make only slightly incremental updates to their products. Their are innovative in design, however slow to make significant processing upgrades. I see possibly a slight speed bump and a LED display. Other than that - not much. And as always...I hope I am completely wrong...

JENNY....:p

The internet porn generation will have entered the next phase when we have touch screens from Apple and interactive touch-sensitive downloads. ;)
