well i had a problem playing with my JailBroken Phone so i restored to factory settings now half of my stock apps are missing even the camera is missing.

itunes says its 2.2 firmware i have no settings no contacts weather mail

when jailbroken i did use catagories and SBSettings and some apps were hidden etc..... does this cause problems to a factory restore?

Just to let you know, it doesn't work as described above..I have had this same problem, it is very frustrating. I did a complete Erase all contents and settings, and the applictions were still hidden... You are gonna have to re-jailbreak, unhide the icons with sbsettings.. restart the phone (most important).. sync to itunes, make sure you do a full backup.. Then you can restore again, and you will have your icons back.

Oh, that's what he meant... I kept thinking that the OP meant that he has changed nothing on the phone...
Back when i was on 2.0, maps and stocks and sms disappeared. Restore.

i reformated from an earlier backup point my apps are back, just to verify? if apps are hidden then i need to unhide them before i restore?

yeah. all hiding does is modify a plist that says where the icons go, that plist is backed uo and put back on the phone when you restore from a backup

Did you do a DFU restore ? If not try that. I believe there is a disclaimer in the more info section of categories. Good Luck

You need to do a restore, but you need to set it up as a NEW phone. Because if you restore it from a back up the locations of the icons are re-applied and that is your problem. Hope that helps

It doesn't. Then he would lose everything. All he has to do is rejailbreak and then unhide his apps. Geesh, when will you people learn to read the freaking thread??

all i did to fix my problem was restore to an earlier backup which didnt have hidden apps.

problem solved if intend on hiding apps then i should consider backing up a safe backup

I did read the thread and creating a new backup with the icons hidden, is the same as restoring to a backup that has no hidden icons.

Rejailbreaking/unhiding is an extra step that can be skipped. :)
