I've read so much "my iPhone is lagging behind so i'm swithing to <insert other phone here>" that i've decided to tell you why i'm sticking to the iPhone.
Disclaimer: Yes, i'm probably a fanboy, but since i work in the telecom business, i'm still able to see the good in other phones too..
I've used the iPhone since the 2G was released, and someone imported them to Norway. i've used the 3G, and now the 3GS. When the new one comes out i will switch to that one (one year contracts is a nice thing
).
Before i got the iPhone i switched phones every other month because i got tired of them. With the iPhone, Apple, together with the developers have made a phone that's constantly renewed in terms of functionality and appeal. You may argue that you can also get apps with every other platform, but i think the expression "it's not what you can do, but how you do it that matters" comes to play here.
The iPhone is a phone that both 12 year olds, and 80 year olds can use with the same amount of ease. I've heard of one 80 year old.. Before she got the iPhone, she was only able to call, because all the other things were so complicated. Now she bombards her son with texts instead of calling, because it's so easy to do.
I have tried the system that most people who leave the iPhone prefers, compared to the iPhone, it's a really illogical system, and is not as easy to learn and use. But i see the appeal for the techies that like to tinker with their system, and be able to have full control.
There is one thing Android have that i would like to see on the iPhone, and that is the ability to shortcut anything. For example text a certain person just with one tap.
I use my iPhone a lot, in certain conditions i use it more than my laptop, and some times even as a laptop replacement. I will probably be getting the iPad just because of this.
I have jailbroken my device, but just to get multitasking. The Multitasking in OS4 is not perfect, but it's enough to keep me from tampering with my phone by jailbreaking it. By all means, i see the use for some people here too, but i don't see the need for my use.
Another good reason to stick with the iPhone, is iTunes. It's just so easy to download and add media to the iPhone, just with a single click. Where else can you buy a movie, song or tv-show and have it on your phone by just pressing one button?
To conclude this rambling post: There is not one phone out there that fits my needs better than the iPhone. (notice the part about MY needs, there may be others that have other needs that the iPhone just can't fill)
