I admit - I was slightly tempted by the new iMac. Just to get rid of the white. I don't like the white.
But after reading initial reviews of the new iMac, it looks more like a lazy Ives hangover, or a legal formalty for Apple. Which ever costs less.

But what the hell is which the glossy screens?
Why can't they just give us a choice?
Glass: breakable, and horrible since we've seen the back of CRT.
Why are Apple going against the rest of the industry and reverting back to glass?

Also, my suggestion for future Apple project:
A f**king backlit keyboard. LEDs. How hard is it, really?

Am I the only person who see the interior of the building that the iMac is in before I see the iMac itself? (and the person in the background!)

LCDs are just as breakable as glass. My dad's MBP is proof of that.

And that site you linked to shows nothing negative about the new iMacs. It just says that the new ones are faster than the ones they replace.

Of course looking at a glossy screen from an angle will show refelections. Might wanna try looking at it head on, the way you'd actually use the computer. If you haven't tried it first hand dont knock.

Glass is breakable as is an LCD. Unless you're seeking to actively introduce a hammer to your iMac i dont see it breaking.

Stop living on hearsay

Purely simple...the new iMacs are crap. Get a MBP and thank me later.

I saw one today in an apple center, and when I was standing in front of it, the glare wasn't noticeable.

It's always nice to see or try something before you make any decisions about it.

No, I thought how smart the iMac looks, and had to re-read your post before seeing the reflection on the screen!

However, I do wonder how it would be in my living room while scrolling thro' photos or watching a misic video on Front Row from a distance, using the Apple remote?
