My TV has WIFI. Can I Access Purchased TV Shows in iTunes Without APPLE TV?

My tv has wifi built in and i can access things like hulu, netflix etc.
is there a way i can access tv shows i bought in itunes on the tv? or do i have to buy apple tv device?

You need an Apple TV to access the iTunes Store.

You could if you used an iPad 2 or iPhone 4S and HDMI adapter.

Wouldn't some older iOS devices work? Surely video mirroring isn't required?

Any iOS device will work for iTunes videos. But only the iPhone 4 and newer have support for Netflix out, without jailbreaking.
