Haven't been to the forum in a few days, but don't see any recent convos on this.

My previous date to upgrade was Mid January, looking at the 32 gig 3Gs. Att site no longer gives me that message, will allow me to buy it for $299, plus a new contract as per the norm.

If this is old news, that maybe they're doing this across the board or it's been discussed delete this or flame away, no matter. Also, I don't know why I was bumped up - the only thing I changed with my plan was to add unlimted texting a few months back on the family plan, 2 lines.

Look like I'll be visting the Apple store this weekend!

No change in eligibility for me. I did see that they changed the layout of the AT&T wireless account page, though.

I checked a couple of day ago and it was late March before I was eligible again.

Should I assume that means sometime in April I will be officially eligible?

:D

Did you happen to up your rate plan or is your line regularly over $99/month? AT&T absolutely accelerates the eligibility of phones for lines that pay over $xx/month (I think it's $99 but can't be positive). I always wondered why one of my phones on the plan (not mine) was up for renewals every 12 months while the rest were closer to the expected renewal period. As it turns out they had simply randomly assigned the family plan & $30 family messaging plan to that number. I had them switch the family plan & messaging to my line a couple of months ago and since that time my eligibility (was at March 2010) changed and I'm actually eligible for a new phone right now.

Crazy, but true!

I guess it's back to whatever Att's formula is in deciding. I know that there are many threads on THAT topic.. going back to when the phone just came out. But I can't remember what it all was.

I did notice that when I went to add the phone to my cart (just to see if it was for real) that I was kicked over into the Premium Customer section. Woohoo.

Kadman - yes, we added another line and iPhone early this year, and then the family text in the summer. Total bill is about 130.

Do I want the phone? YES. Do I want the Ebay hassle in selling the old one? NO

I went the Craigslist route. Posted a free ad with a pic around lunch time on a Saturday and had a wad 'o cash in my pocket by 7pm that day, more than I paid for the 3GS (used an upgrade swap to gain eligibility from another line on the plan). I'll use my line's eligibility to buy whatever they release next year and make a profit on this one as well. Each year I get a new phone, plus some extra money in my pocket. I like this plan! :D

Good tip. I am going to try CL before resorting to eBay. Was checking completed listings at eBay just to get a range, there was one the sold for a half million dollars. WTF is that all about, I know it aint' for real, but just seeing crap like that up there doesn't inspire confidence.

Then there are a whole bunch listed as sold for 5 grand, 4, 3, etc. ?? Don't make no sense.
