Hi everyone. This is my first time posting, so please be kind!
First a little background. I've been a die hard pc guy since day one. But thanks to the iPod, and then finally the iPhone, I've finally
seen the light. I currently have an old Dell laptop and a 2005-2006 dual core Alienware PC. Back then I thought all my gaming would be done on the PC. Then the 360 came out and HDTVs, and that all changed. And here I was feeling like a sucker cuz I paid 3,500 on my state of the art Alienware.
Anyways over the last year both have started falling apart, and I told myself this was the best time to switch. Will probably get an iPad to replace the laptop when that goes, but as luck would have it it's my PC that is falling apart. Want to replace it with an iMac, but wanted to get some advice.
Right now I'm looking at a 27inch i7 with 8gb ram. I will
mostly use this computer for the internet and word processing/excel. Also would like to get into some video/photo editing, but more on a recreational
level than anything professional. I want the transition to be as smooth as
possible, so looking to get Fusion or Parallels and install windows 7 as well.
I know there is this 'wait until the update' feeling here, but I'm thinking what's being offered now is good enough for me. Unless there is some
glaring reason I'm missing, I think I'd rather get in now before the price increases with the new update. Does anyone think differently, or have any
other advice for a first-timer?
All my files from my old computer are stored on an external hard drive, so I'm all set to move everything over once I have win7 set up on there.
Thank you everyone, and if there's any additional info you need please
let me know! If you needs specs on my
current pc, it'll have to wait until tonite when
I'm home. Again, thanks!
