Just want to share my experience @ the genius bar today/

I went to the genius bar today because my gps would not track correctly. I wasted 30 minutes only to have the guy restore my phone (which I already did) and tell me to go outside at this certain spot in the mall where he is sure there is good gps reception and retest it. I went and tested and brought it back and it was way off.

The guy insisted that it was because I dont have an official "iphone sim" in my phone and that I couldnt use gps without a data plan. I then referenced apps like navigon and tomtom which store the maps on the phone and dont require data and only the gps. He insisted that those also would not work properly without a data plan.

At this point I was beginning to feel like maybe I should be working behind the counter and not him. Needless to say he was extremely busy and ended up just replacing my phone.

I look at my replacement about 15 minutes later at lunch in the mall and I realize that there is an awful yellow tinge to it. My girlfriend notices as well and she isnt anal about phones at all so I knew it wasnt just me being overly picky. I had heard of these problems with the 3gs but not the 3g.

I take the phone back immediately and compare it to other 3g's as well as 3gs' in the store and they all have much cooler screens. Even all the 3gs' looked better than this one.

I talked to another "genius" and he looked at it and insisted that it was within "spec" and perfectly acceptable. I then explained to him that every iphone in the store had colder screens than this phone and asked him why none of the others were like that if it was normal. He of course had no answer for me and told me that he would exchange 1 based on the screen issue as a "courtesy" and that I would never be able to exchange it for a screen problem again. Thankfully even the replacements replacement looked much better and im a happy camper again but it was a horrible visit to say the least.

Why did you ever leave the store when they swapped out your phone the first time without looking at it and running thru a few screens to make sure everything was working and you were happy with it?

So why did you wait to "check" the phone until you were out of the store and not on the spot?
