The first thing I noticed was that volume down is nice and clicky whereas volume up is kind of quiet and squishy. This bothers me, and I was wondering, if I'm spending $1,100 on such a device is it reasonable to expect the buttons to all feel equally good, or would they laugh at me for suggesting a replacement for such an issue?

Also, does anyone else's volume buttons behave similarly? I wonder if this is a common issue for some reason, or if it's just random.

If you are within your return period, return the phone and buy another. I don’t have a new phone so, I can’t comment on the buttons. However, you are unhappy with the phone and need to rectify the problem as you perceive it.

My lower volume button isn't as clicky as the top and only the upper half would give me any input. Went to my geek squad appointment. Took my old phone, ran the diagnostic and ordered me a new one. Up to two weeks none in stock.

I'd have suggested going to an Apple Store.
Esp. if it's is a massively sold-out model: Apple Stores typically have a few devices to swap defective units with in the back of the store.
I did so when my iPhone X (ordered on launch day back then and sold out for multiple months to come) developed a screen issue: I went to apple and got back home with a working new phone a short bit later.

Graphite Pro. I have my 6s I can wait.

Replacements are sim free or what? My phone was bought in full from t-mobile.

Got my replacement phone took a week. Buttons are how they should be. They told me Apple will replace phones at this time rather than fix them due to not having parts
