My Website does Not Layout right on my MAC Book Pro

The contact us tab gets pushed down below the home tab and the main text and photo show up at the bottom of the page. This problem seems to be unique to my Mac Book Pro (17inch screeen). The problem exists in Safari and Firefox on this machine. The site looks great on other computers and the company that created the code cannot seem to fix the problem.

Make sure that your text is the right size by going to the view menu, and then selecting "Make text normal size".

If I make the text size larger I get the same result as you do. The browser is doing the "Right Thing" and re-arranging the page when stuff will not otherwise fit.

Have you looked at your page on an iPhone yet. Let's hope the iPhone's browser also does the Right Thing.

One thing I hate is web pages that don't re-render text to fit available space when I re-size a widow. Many designers want to control the page pixel by pixel but then they don't work on small or low res screens.

What you could do is specify the table not in pixels but in percent of the screen then it would re-size rather then "stack" like it does now.

BTW. I'm a diver I live in So. California. I tried to look up some local shops and charter outfits. We have LOTS of them here. So. Cal is very active with divers but your site was unable to find anything, even when I knew what to search for. Tell your client that you need to search by geographic distance (X miles from this location) The user would enter his location (city or zip) and then a radius. As it is I can't even find thing near my house that I know are there.

Resizing my text did not work

Thanks for your replies. The site is still in development, but this problem I am having on my Mac Book Pro is a pain. I have tried resizing my text and that does not take care of the problem. Is there anything I can change in the code on the site that would correct the problem? I do not have this issue with other web sites on my Mac, so I know the web designers should be able to fix the problem. The problem is that they do not see it on there end. If I could tell them exactly what needs to be fixed it would be a big help. Thanks for your help.

When I try resizing my text on my Mac, the only text that seems to get smaller is the "Scuba Search" text and the "Featured Business" text.

Looks like a browser setting issue. For Firefox go under the View menu and select Text Size > Normal. If that doesn't fix it, go to the Preferences > Content > Fonts & Colors > and change size to 16 (that's the default). Also check under Advanced there to see if you have anything set for the minimum font size.

Comparing your screen shot with my view of the page, yours definitely shows larger text so it's a browser issue and not the design. Though the dsign could be made more flexible and not try to constrain everything with pixels.

Thanks for your help, it was the minimum font size that was the culprit. Is there anything specific I could ask the web design company to change in their code that would allow me to change the font size in my browser settings without having the web page get all messed up?

I've had that minimum font size mess me up too. As far as making the site more flexible, they could use percentages or em measurements for certain aspects like width. They don't have to do everything in % and em, but widths will allow font adjustments to happen without the layout going screwy. Using min-width and max-width also help despite them not working in IE.
