Hey there guys, just thought I'd share some of my illustrations with you. I'm a 2nd year student at Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand. This is just a little personal venture which helps me to express my own work, without the restrictions of paper outlines ;)

www.bleedsheet.co.nz

Tell me what you think!

i'm only going to critique the site itself, not the illustrations. :)

pros:
i like the starkness of the black and white...i also like the font/graphics being used.

i also like to rollover effects when hovering over the menu options...they just add a little interest.

cons:
your menu page doen't have a title....i see "menu.gif" where a proper title should be. "bleed sheet" would suffice as a general title. maybe you just overlooked that...just thought i'd point it out! :D

each page loads fairly slowly for me, and i'm on a pretty fast connection here...you may want to optimize the images a bit more.

i find the "menu" option being at the bottom of the subpages a little awkward. perhaps it should move toward the top.

i'm getting the little ? in safari when clicking on the link for your blog...a missing image, looks like.

overall, it's a nice site for showing your work, but you may want to think about making some changes to make things load a little faster. i wouldn't want to try this on dial-up ;)

one question...was this made in photoshop/imageready?

Nice site.

Some links like the ditching a rap career didnt work for me. All i got was a bunch of garbeld text.

Maybe add some color here and there - at least for the links.

Great start tho.

Hey Guys. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah I do need to optimize the images a bit more, and thanks for pointing out the menu title! I just updated it so thats why its missing.....

Yeah I'm going to have to look into that missing image on the menu.... can't quite figure out why its a no-show...

Thanks again!

General feedback

I like the layout a lot. The background, and the content... looks awesome. I don't think the links fit in though. Maybe try a shade of green and lose the text-decoration.You can improve it better. It’s structure somewhat resembles as if it was designed by designers at www.webdesigningcompany.net , but there designs are quiet search engine friendly . Any way it’s still o.k. Keep up the good work.

Here we go:

your sites pages seem to almost be exclusively pics with imagemaps, or tabular images with links and rollovers. which looks awesome, but isnt really that accessible. there is no text to copy and paste, nothing for Google etc etc. but maybe that doesnt matter to your audience.

your main menu page, the title is "main.gif" - on purpose i dont know

rollover "collection" the image change is off by a few pixels.

you are using tables. not "good" but useful. in your case I think your site, and you, would benefit from switching to CSS backgrounds, hovers and hidden objects. the overall look of the site wouldnt change, but the functionality of it would increase dramatically.

and for these images ALL being black and white, you really didnt compress them at all and they load incredibly slow.

if this is a "portfolio" site, you should make the actual "artistic works" part of it be accessible with some sort of list, menu, thumbnail gallery, whatever. Your, this is the first image with a next and last button, doesnt cut it.

at the very least, re-compress your images.

at the very most, re-design it with CSS.
