My wife is someone who doesn't get a new phone until her phone basically dies but we have to shuffle around because one of my kids needs one... long story short she's gone from 6s to iPhone 8 and I just ordered her the iPhone SE. She doesn't want a big phone so lucky her there's a new choice, lol! Her goal is to keep the SE until it no longer gets updates.... So after this, she will have more or less had the exact same phone for almost 10 years! Meanwhile I'm lucky if I can keep a phone 12 months!

The 6S, 8, and 2020 SE may have similar form factors, but they're not close enough to be the same phone.

For starters, the 6S has a headphone jack and doesn't have water resistance. The 8 introduces quick charging and wireless charging to iPhones. The 2020 SE introduces Apple's fastest processors and Portrait Lighting to a budget segment.

Although a bunch of incremental changes, they're all different phones.

I agree. The thread title is very clickbaity.

6s was introduced in 2015. That means your wife has had the same form factor for 5 years, not 10 years.

I started with the iphone 4, so basically since ios 4, ios through the iterations is very similar I have had the same phone for 10 years?

I’m gonna make a sweeping generation here... but I imagine it’s a bloke thing to have the very latest in tech, though having the same iPhone for 5 years I suppose is an achievement. As I said, no man interested in devices & tech would make a phone last that long...well most men.

I think what the OP is trying to say is if his wife keeps the new SE until it no longer gets updates (which should be about 5 years) she would be using a phone with the same form factor for 10 years total...

Sure. Except she hasn't had the same phone for 10 years......sounds like she'll be on her 3rd in 5 years.

Edit: I get it now but the title of this thread is confusing compared to the actual intent of your post.

By the time she gets rid of this SE it will be damn near 10 years!

Wouldn't have been in the iPhone category if that was the case ;)

My mum’s still using a 6 Plus. It’s so incredibly slow it’s actually difficult to use!
