I have intermittently used MFP for a while now but thought that I would amp it up after poking around healthkit and seeing that my steps were automatically being recorded. I was also fascinated with seeing the hills I climb every day in this mountainous area being turned into flights of stairs.

When playing with MFP, I connected it with HealthKit and turned on the step counter in their app yesterday.

Today, I tried to look in the Health app to see if I could see the stairs climbed through there, since MFP doesn't have that. Now it was no data for me in terms of steps and stairs.

Any clue what's up with that? MFP is tracking steps just fine.

Something like that happened to me after going from 8.0 to 8.0.2. Go into health, click health data >click steps, flights etc> click share data and for some reason going in there reset everything. Let me know if it works

Nope, didn't do it. I'm half tempted to turn it off in MFP to see if the Health app starts tracking it again, but I don't want to fiddle with that if it means both won't be counting. I'm hoping someone else will have an answer soon.

Try keeping separate logs

I have almost similar experience with Runtastic and Endomondo while importing data from the latter to the former! Try keeping separate logs. I believe your ultimate aim is to track your improvement. So it should work fine.
