does anyone have a preference between the two or even one from the app store? I really need landscape mode and forwarding messages would be nice as well.

mysms:

ehhh no thanks. tried it out and it seems to randomly get really really slow when loading messages. it doesn't split your messages up in days like the normal sms app does and instead loads every single message from a contact, resulting in EXTREMELY slow loading times if you have a lot of messages from someone. i don't know why it claims to be a lot faster. unusable IMO.

bitesms also has forwarding and landscape capability EXCEPT you can't actually read your texts in landscape mode, only portrait which makes no sense at all.

update: version 1.1 seems to take care of the slow loading issue. it now does split your messagse into days like the regular sms app does. the only beef i still have is that it doesn't 'save' your messages while you type them before sending. that is, when you start typing an sms and then go back a screen, your message completely disappears.

hey, i am the owner of FunkySpaceMonkey.com This morning the developer of mySMS contacted me and sent me a free key to register my app and stop using the cracked version. That mailed rocked, no dobut about it. But i dont want to keep that key for myself. I will give it to one of my blog readers. I will think of some kind of easy "contest" and the winner will recieve from me via email 2 key codes to register the app. Why 2? Because they are for mySMS secure. and you if you want to send encrypted sms texts to another person , that person needs to have mySMS secure as well. So i think it will be a nice Christmas gift from me to you and you gf/bf/spouse/brother/sister/parents/best friend what ever. Stay tuned for more info.

YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!

keep up the good work , ;)

much love,

I have purchased keys for them both. I only got the regular mySMS, not the secure one. I prefer iRealSMS. I don't like the splash screen when first opening mySMS, it seems to take longer to load. It also takes what seems like forever to send a text. The little bar showing the progress took up to 30 seconds sometimes. It was just really laggy. Make sure you get iRealSMS 2.0. Its much better then the first one. It has the same feel of the OE app with the same colored bubbles, time/date info above the new texts, and just seems to run smoother and faster. I don't care so much about the landscape keyboard as I do the forwarding and ability to send texts to multiple people. I still use the normal SMS app 90% of the time. I just use iRealSMS when I need the extra features.

hey,

the contest started a few hours ago. There will be 3 winners , not 1 as i previously said.

Honestly, neither I prefer biteSMS not only because there is no ad when you start up but because it is flawless and most resembles the stock SMS app. The accelerometer motion is very nice as well

Just bought iReal SMS. When I get a new SMS and hit reply it loads the program but instead of going to the message, it goes to the last thing I did. Does anyone else get that?

Also, it was damn slow with a conversation of about 500 messages.

I have tried both and the newest iRealSMS is unbeatable at the moment. To the poster above me: Make sure you have all your settings correct.

What setting do I need enabled to bring up the actual text message when I hit reply? Should it do that?

Do you have it set as the default sms app? I have also noticed that if you get a sms the message pop up shows and if you immediately hit the reply button, it will go directly to the conversation and then directly to typing screen. This only works though if you hit the reply button directly after receiving the message. Otherwise it just goes to the conversation or last spot
