Mystery contacts

When I start a new SMS or iMessage and start to enter a name my phone will show people that are not and have never been in my contacts. Once upon a time my wife and I shared an Apple ID but not since family sharing came out. It is people that she would have in her contacts.

Why is this and how can I get it to stop?
