Is anyone here playing Mythos? It's a new Diablo-like RPG from Flagship Studios (which originated from Blizzard North a.k.a. the developers of Diablo). It's currently in beta and you need an invite but it will supposedly be free to play and download.

I just got an invite and downloading the client now, I'm very excited for this game, just wondering if there are any fellow MR users playing this game? I used the search function and couldn't find any threads about it.

By the way, if anyone wants any invites, I'll be sure to offer them on MacRumors first when I get them but I don't have any yet.

Let us know how you like it.

The same studio put out Hellgate: London and I read some reviews that said it was Diablo inspired, but the reviews I read were mainly negative. What I read in the past said that Mythos was originally created to test out, Hellgate's online gaming but is now being released as a standalone game.

Let us know what your machine specs are and how well it runs.:)

Wow this game is a straight out clone of Diablo (and I mean in the good sense).

Thus far I've really liked this game, the graphics are nice (especially the effects and since they are on the simple side they are not very demanding), the interface is pretty good (anyone who has played Diablo will feel right at home with Mythos' interface) and overall the gameplay is satisfying because it felt like a throwback to Diablo for me, I'll have to play it more to really give a more advanced opinion.

I haven't played Hellgate: London so I can't comment on that but Mythos sure feels like Diablo III (only on a completely different, more cartoonish setting). The game ran great max settings (1280x1024) in my PC with an E6750, 4GB of RAM and a temporal 8500GT (waiting out on R700 and G100). I might test the game on my Mac Pro and first gen MBP later on though though I'll imagine those machines will max out as well, Mythos is not very demanding and the Mac Pro and MBP are pretty capable anyways.

I hear there is a very limited amount of invites, you can sign-up at the Mythos website for a chance but current users also get something like 2-5 invites per month or something like that so I'll definitely offer them here when I get mine, should be fun to form a MacRumors party sometime...

Mythos Invites

Hi;

I am very interested in playing Mythos, does anyone have an invite they could send me? I have a Macbook, and will probably purchase Parallels to be able to play it. Has anyone had any experience playing Mythos through one of those emulation programs??

Why invite?

Why do we need invites? I went there and signed up for beta... didnt see a invite thing but ok

hey, it's great you got a invite :) ive bin waiting for a long time when i heard about this game. is there a mac version of the game? and what are the specs for it on a macbook? if anbody got a few invites, send me a pm.

I've got parallels but I don't think it can run a graphics-intensive game like mythos. I'll probably have to put bootcamp or crossover on it, otherwise I don't see it happening.

Fortunately I I just got an invite for the beta, so i'll join up soon :)

If anyone has tried crossover btw please let me know.

Mythos forums FTW!

There's threads there and Crossover won't work anytime soon. It's an API bug with the mouse or something.

Also Mythos requires DirectX9c which Parallel's won't handle, it barely handles FATE (runs but with some GUI issues) and that requires DX8.

There's quite a bit on the mythos forums.

Man Im desperate to try Mythos aswell... it looks so cool. a fun casual kick butt slashing light MMO that is just about having fun... bright colors.. lots of action and loot.

Questions:

1)Cant fusion do dx9? Can you run Mythos in Fusion?

2)Heard they added WASD and third person camera with the zone 3 patch. How does it work? is the controls/camera as good as WoW/Guild Wars?

3)how does it work exactly? do you download the an exe client and just play it like that, or is it one of does free games where you have to go to a website, login and launch the game from the website to play?

4)heard they are doing in-game advertisment. any comments on this?

1. Haven't tried it but should work similarly to Parallels (that is, not work).

2. It works but it's gimmicky, the "diablo-view" is tons better.

3. It works with a local client and you play over the net, you get updates as they are delivered.

4. Haven't heard or seen any in-game advertisement, I guess we'll have to wait until the full game releases but I thought the Mythos developers were aiming at downloadable content for revenue, not advertising.

I'll add a few things, this game is not a MMORPG (at least not on it's current form) and it doesn't feel like it, it's more on the lines of Guild Wars but it's more like Diablo online, you only ever see other people on towns and if you really want it it can be a single-player experience, you have to form parties to play with other people.
