How can I set a password to protect my WiFi with MyWi? The only option seems to be a stupid ten letter number combination that I won't be able to remember (and needs to be ten for some reason).

Hell, a password like "white" would work fine like my home network (no, that's not my home network's password, just an example). I just need other people not to access it.

You would only need to remember the 10 digit password temporarily. As long as your phone is near you (and if you're using MyWi, I don't know why it wouldn't be) you can change it.

Besides, the app doesn't hide the key when you open it on the phone. You can glance at it and input it on your iPad when you're ready to use it.

There aren't any other options. You only have to enter the code once, the very first time I connect. What's the big deal? BTW, I have to enter 26 characters, not 10.

Just use your phone number or any phone number you know by heart. That's 10 digits right there including area code.

10 digits probably map to 40bit encryption. 26 digits map to 128bit.

WEP is a broken protocol. I see that it can be broken in as little as a minute depending on the strength of the key.

So, if you just want to prevent casual usage of your connection, the 40 bit encryption is probably sufficient. The average person (i.e. NOT someone out to hack into your system, or someone out for you in particular) will either go without WiFi, or find an open AP.

WPA is much better. I don't know if there are technical reasons it isn't supported in MyWi.
