Hello all,

With it looking like King Jobs is not going to allow one to tether the iPad to one's existing data connection on one's iPhone, I'm wanting to give MyWi a try.

In Cydia I see two apps. One is MyWi and the other is MyWi (No Rock). I see that the former is free and the No Rock version is $10.00.

I'm perfectly willing to pay for it, but I'd like to try it first. So I guess my question is, with is this "Rock Your Phone" app that gets installed?

And is this a trial/demo version?

Thanks
David

Rock is pretty much just another "jailbreak store". It's super annoying, since it pretty much requires you to download it just to use a few apps. I just bought the MyWi w/o Rock a few days ago and love it. It's so worth it!

Ps. I will NEVER have Rock on my iPhone again. When it was on there, it only caused troubles for me, but I'm biased against them hardcore

You still have to pay for MiWi with Rock. It just installs rock and you pay for it IN rock instead of Cydia. Sorry...

Rock is a Cydia alternative. Personally, I don't like the idea of it considering they offer it as a fork of Cydia and also include a fork of Mobilesubstrate. I don't need MobileSubstrate AND some other task for injections.

That said, plenty of people use it and are happy with it.

Thanks guys.

You all helped me make my decision.

But I just thought of another question though, in regards to MyWi?

I just have the 3G iPhone and it runs a little to a lot slow due to being jailbroken. With that said, how does MyWi function? Does it run in the background? Does it have to be running/open once it starts the "Hot Spot"?

I think that's it. I'm sure I'm going to fork over the 10.00, just had a couple of questions pop up.

Thanks
David

Miwi runs when u need it and shuts off when you close it.
A stock iPhone 3G is slow as it is on stock firmware:)
So miwi won't make much of a difference.
I'd also suggest sticking with cydia instead of Rock.

yeah 3g is getting pretty sluggish

and the miwi tethering makes it a bit worse, but its not a big deal, since I don't use my iphone regularly when its tethering ( i'm on my computer)

Get MiWI, it's completely worth the $10
