n00b question regarding MB and Console Gaming...

Is there a way to use the MB LCD screen as a TV substitute? For example, is there a peripheral that allows a Wii or GCN to connect to the MB to use it's screen? Or is the graphics card not good enough to handle such an input?

You need something to act as a TV. A number of Elgato's EyeTV products will work in SD (not HD) resolutions as they have a game mode. Any of their products without a dedicated game mode will not work well as there will be a noticeable lag preventing you from playing the game.
