You can create an alias and give that email address out instead, but you can't change your main (login) account name.
As for eBay, people just sell the code. You can buy it cheaper on Amazon, too.

You can change your name. I did by contacting apple help by ichat. They did a cancel on my account and started a new account with my new name. It took about 3 minutes.
