It can't be games or anything prank or anything that requires purchasing extra hardware. When I say wicked, I mean apps that do things you never would expect an Iphone to be capable of doing. Example of ones I find wicked are Shazam, Red laser, or Mocha VNC lite. Shazam falls in the category because before I learned about it, I thought only the human brain was capable of listening to songs and identifying them. Are there any other apps you know of that do things that are outrageously awesome?

Ocarina, by Smule for $0.99! I never really imagined a phone to be an instrument that you actually played... I expected a bunch of keyboards and drums and such, but an Ocarina that you can actually exhale simply blew my mind! I guess I had never thought of such a thing prior to this app! Being a musician, it's my favorite music app!

Siri (VERY accurate voice recognition)
Google Earth (just seems too intensive to be running on mobile hardware)
iMovie (even though it's buggy, editing HD video on a phone is just plain nuts)
X-Plane (real flight simulation on a phone still amazes me)
Star Walk (the way it tracks your movements across the sky and shows you what's right there, behind the phone, is very impressive)

Plus a large number of toddler-oriented apps, because they are so well done and so perfectly engross my toddler when I need a little help pacifying her.

This phone is so amazing.

Soundhound is very cool! what the difference Shazam vs soundhound? should it try shazaam?

I've just downloaded this app and it's fantastic! Thanks for the tip.

+1 This was one of the first apps I downloaded when I got my 3G 2 years ago. Completely blew me away and had to show my family and friends when I saw them. They all thought i was nuts :)
