Ok I was down by are pond and I caught this strange thing and put it in a bucket.
And that lump kinda freaked me out.......What the heck is it??

It also doesn't need air because it just sits at the bottom of the water filled bucket and floats/crawls around.

Thanks for the answers......But should I pull that lump off its back with a needle nose pliers? eww:eek:

That's definitely a snail. It's hitched on that bug for a ride. It'll do that with any bug that is big enough to compensate for the the snails weight.

Im going to dump it in a waterless bucket to see how good its breathing skills are. :D

If you really want to see something wild, put some mosquito larvae in with it. Dragonfly nymphs are predators, and they'll take small invertebrates like other insect larvae (especially mosquito "wigglers"), or even small vertebrates like tadpoles. You might have to move the wigglers in front of the nymph, but if the nymph attacks, you're in for a shocker.
