I was looking at the dock options for the 4G nano, and it looks like the only thing Apple offers is an adapter for the Universal Dock. Well, that dock is gigantic for the nano, and I was wondering if the 1G or 2G nano dock (the smaller ones they made specifically for those iPods) would be able to fit a 4G nano. It looks as if the dock connector is on the same side, but I'm just not sure about the dimensions. Has anybody tried this?

Yes, it works fine. I bought a brand new 1st gen nano dock on ebay for $3 including shipping and it works fine.

I compared the width of my 2G and 4G nano, and cannot really see much of a difference (if any), so it should fit fine.
However, why does that Amazon page say 2G nano and show a 1G nano?

Perfect! That's all I needed to know. I just ordered a 1G Dock from Amazon. Man, Apple should sell these again. The Universal Dock with a tiny little nano in it looks terrible.
