So I just bought this nano maybe 20 minutes ago from this guy on craigslist (great deal!!) Well I plug it in to put my library on it and it is taking forever to Sync! My mini is faster than this thing at syncing, could there possibly be something wrong with it?

I have a tiny 1.5 gig itunes! and its probably been about 30 minutes! it did have to erase his 3.5 gigs loaded on there already...

How far along is the progress bar? The initial sync will be a long one, so I wouldn't be too worried until it takes hours rather than half an hour.

Well it finished right after I posted the second response! I plan on giving this to a buddy of mine and I was just making sure I wasnt about to give him something that was broken! Total time was about 35 minutes, so that sounds okay?

Yeah, that sounds pretty normal to me. My iPhone took a lot longer than that when I synced it initially.

Okay so I hate to bug you again but now there is another problem! So since before I wrote this thread it has been plugged in and charging but I just took it off the charger to check it out and it is still only half charged!? still normal?

What was the battery at when you first connected it? If it has been going up, then try charging it overnight.

its been plugged in since about 7:15 and it is now 11:26... (well where I am) so it has been 4 hours, and its still at about 85% battery charge! I am charging it using my ibook g4 that isnt plugged into the wall, do you think that might have anything to do with it?

That's probably it. Try plugging in your laptop into the wall and that should allow the charge to continue. My MBP doesn't charge my iPod's when it's not plugged into the wall itself.

Well I just plugged it in... I think I am going to run the iPods battery down all night and then I am going to try charging it with the computer plugged into the wall and see if it still takes a couple hours! Well thanks for all your help guys, I will post later if anything else happens!

Battery Issue Now!

Okay so here is an update... I unplugged it around 1 am and played music and a game on it for about 15 minutes before the battery showed it was dead, but it kept going! So I played for another ten minutes or so and then shut it off and passed out. Well this morning I started it up and played music on it and left it running while I got ready for the day, and it is still going strong but still showing that it has zero battery? any fix for this?

When you connect it to iTunes there should be a Restore button. Restoring is the next thing to try.

Well here goes the update! I restored the iPod and synced it once again to my itunes and it went alot faster this time than last! well I started playing the iPod at abut 11 am and left it playing until almost 3 pm and it had lost most of its battery but still had some left so I am going to go ahead and say it has been cured! Thanks to everyone for trying to figure this one out!
