Nano scractching issue continued...

Well it seems macrumors is trying to bury their thread on the suit so lets keep it in the public eye. Atleast I want to I find the issue interesting and I like arguing .

SOMEONE TELL ME IF IM WRONG ABOUT THIS the current ipod and ipod nano are different from all the others in that they now have A CLEAR RESIN COATING I dont know what that means but I have herd it from a number of sources.

You have had a number of good arguments and you got me thinking that you might be right for a while. I told my neighbor with a nano to try polishing out some of the hairline scratches (as you suggested). He did, he used clean lint free eye glass cleaning cloth that he went out and got just for the purpose and the DA** and polishing gave it even more scratches That is called an issue and it is apples fault.

I don't think you understand how big of a deal this being blown-up to.

How big of a conspiracy this is... it goes all the way to the top.

What we're talking about is a thread, a subject that the establishment (macrumors) is trying to supress. Very quietly, thousands of active macrumors members have been posting on subjects other than Nano-scratches! It's Macrumors DUTY to keep this subject at the top of the front page, telling everyone Apple is at fault!

I can't comment on previous iPods, but I can say that yes the new Nanos have a clear layer of plastic over the whole thing. The layer of plastic goes over the screen as well so if the body is prone to scratches, the screen is exactly as prone to scratches.

Nano's scratch intolerably easily. If you don't own one, then don't comment, because you need to have had one firsthand to understand.

However important an issue scratching is - it's now not as huge because it can be remedied, apparantly with Brasso. For those of you who were caught off guard and had your scratches because you could cry out "iPod Skins!" you have a second chance. I'm getting myself some brasso this weekend, and a nano case to go along with it. If you fix it up with Brasso, know that there's a scratching issue, and still don't buy a case - then that's your problem. But knowing the problem can be fixed is... good.

I dont own one (yet), but the nanos in the Apple store are looking pretty narly. (yes, I know devices in the stores get pretty banged up, but they are all very scratched up compared to other ipods lying around).

But you shouldnt have to buy a case just to keep it useable maybe to keep it pristine but useable no.

Let's see photos. Please, because I certainly don't believe claims that a polish cloth scratched his ipod. Such ridiculous claims surely do not add credibility to your cause.

I have had the new Ipod for 8 days, and they do INDEED scratch with a micro-fiber cloth. There is no consipiracy! I love the new Ipod, but I think it is rediculous that they are made so poorly. I am exchanging mine, and I will put a protective shield IMMEDIATELY on the new one. For all you skeptics, get over it! The real owners of the Nanos and Ipods are telling the truth and not blowing anything out of proportion. The lawsuit is legit. Apple has made a big mistake....period.

Okay, we all know that the new ipod nano scrathes far too easily. I had my black nano for two weeks and it was crazy scuffed up. However, I sucked it up and buffed the scratches out with a plastic cleaner and put and Invisible Sheild on it....problem solved...no need to consult an attorney.

I also am a Nano owner, since the day it came out actually. It isn't a conspiracy, these things scratch like crazy. I'm sorry, but it is true.

The jury's still out IMHO. I've taken a dry paper towel and microfiber cloth to a black nano without noticing any scratches, but crap from pockets or gritty particles seem to scratch it. iPods and iBooks just scratch, no matter what. I own a 4G iPod and it is easily scratched as well, as is my iBook G4 (covered in scuff marks again, and I just ice cremed it last month!).
