iPod Nano, Touch or Classic?

Hey

I have a 2G nano with 4gb music right now. For several reasons i'm thinking about getting a new ipod (water damaged brought the battery life down to 2 hours, and i have a 8gb itunes library)... The thing is I'm not sure which one to get.

My itunes library grows pretty fast, but I'm not sure if it will ever go past 16gb, but I've never had an ipod that could play video, so I may fill up a ton of room with video?

i think the ipod touch is pretty cool, but I'm a bit wary of touch string controls (i seemed to not be very accurate when I went to fast forward through bits of a song), so I think that may be something to put into consideration.

So what do you think I should do?

Touch all the way! the music controls are fine, you get used to them. and the video quality is great, and the applications are addicting. if you get a Touch you might want to get a 32GB if you think music/video alone will get you over 16GB because you'll most likely download applications
 
I think they're all beautiful... but you knew that.
I just love the nano. I love how tiny it is... how I don't worry about it clonking around because it has flash memory instead of a spinning harddrive... it's just a beautiful piece of machinery.
I just got the 3g nano because I like the look better than the brand new one, but if I hadn't gotten that one I would have still gotten the newer nano.
I understand that your ENTIRE collection may fill up a 16gb one day... but I think that if you really look at it, you'll realize that a lot of those songs are ones that you like to be able to call on *once in a while,* and are generally not needed on the iPod. I realized that when I made the transition from classic to nano. :)

I think if it comes down to touch or classic... touch. Why the hell not, right?
 
It depends. Do you like to change the song/volume without looking? Do you exercise often? You should get an iPod nano if the answers are yes. If your primary use of the iPod is to listen to music, and watch a movie once a month and browse the internet on it once every other year, then get the nano. However, if you like PDAs, multimedia players and some light gaming, get the iPod touch. It is essentially a light PDA and portable gaming system, and a very capable multimedia player rolled in one. If you don't mind carrying around a much larger/heavier device, and feel that you can utilize the features frequently, then get an iPod touch.
 
Well, I've pretty much decided on the nano, but I'm not sure which color to get...

I'm going between blue, orange and black.

Congrats! You'll love it, the nanos are awesome little players.
As for colours, I suggest going to the store before picking one. The colours look a little different in real life than on the Apple website. Personally, I like orange because it's just a little different from all the run of the mill MP3 players. Every single MP3 players out there have a blue or black one.

I'm tempted by the classic, currently I have a 8gb 3rd gen nano which is full. The 16gb nano is tempting, but for a little bit more I can get the classic.

Only issue I have with the classic is the HDD, I remember how clunky my old Sony HDD walkman was, I don't want to go back to clunking.

I hear you completely. I can't wait until they can AFFORDABLY put large amounts of flash memory in!
 
I would go for Toch. I'm getting one soon as well and it's really awesome. Almost like iPhone but a lot cheaper :)
 
I'm a big fan of the classic, but then, I have a large music collection, and travel a lot, so I love the capacity and battery length of the current 89 GB classic. Your needs sound different. The current nano is a fantastic iPod, very stylish and exceedingly portable. If you want portability, and prefer music to video, go for the nano; however, if on the other hand you wish to use other functions, - such as video - go for the Touch. It, too is a superb piece of design, and works really well for those who use it.

The new Nano is cool. I am sure that you will like it. :)

Note, not flip flopping. The touch provides more capability. That much is certain. However, the Nano is small, lightweight, and a great music player. The screen is a bit small for photos and videos, but usable.
 
Get a silver iPod Nano. If you've got a new MacBook or iMac then it will match it amazingly.

Heres a photo of my setup so you can see how well they match.

I had a play with a few Classics in store today (a few stores). One disturbing thing I found was stuttering if listening to a track whilst flicking through cover flow. Others didn't do it. Also found the classic experience to be a little sluggish in the operation. Nowhere near as bad as my old Sony hdd though, but enough to put me off.

Then looked at the new Nano, whilst I found the operation of the device really slick (cover flow especially - I'm not a big fan of cover flow, but it shows how slow some ipods are) I found the design felt a little cheap compared to my fatboy nano. Lightweight is good, but this really is light.

Then I had a play with an iPod Touch and yep I bought one (16gb). I may have dismissed the touch in the past, but after a play I really liked it. I could have gone the iPhone 3g route but my existing contract is for another year and I really do hate O2 as a network here in the uk.

Must test the unit tonight then box it up for Christmas :(

I fancied some new Apple in ear headphones, but looks like they've missed the UK stores.
