Any ideas on a good NAS for a mostly Mac network? Right now we currently use a Western Digital 1TB that is connected to an Airport Extreme, but I know there are better solutions out there. We don't want to get rid of the Extreme, but something to just plug into the Ethernet port of the extreme for maybe a little bit faster transfer time.

(If only Apple had placed a Firewire port instead of a USB port in the Extreme ;)).

Maybe a Time Capsule, or maybe a Buffalo NAS?

Not to bash any particular product, I have had six customers have issues with the TeraStations in the past few months, including complete data loss on two.
Those customers have all been moved to Synology devices.
I would recommend you do your due diligence in researching features and functionality before making a purchase.

I use a Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra 6 and its works great in my mixed Mac and PC network. Mine is connected to an Airport Extreme and I routinely see transfer speeds very near the theoretical limits of gigabit ethernet.
